Social Value & Community Manager
Hill Group are currently hiring for a Social Value & Community Manager on a 12-month FTC. This position is for our Eastern region to cover projects across Essex & Hertfordshire, as well as some cover for the Southern region in Surrey.
The Social Value & Community Manager leads on the delivery of social value and community engagement across multiple regional projects. Acting as a key connection between Hill, clients, residents, and community partners, this role ensures projects meet and exceed social value KPIs while maintaining a positive experience for local communities.
You’ll develop delivery plans, manage data collection, support bids, and lead resident communications—helping to embed Hill’s Social Value strategy at project level and strengthen our reputation for building better places.
General Responsibilities
- Build strong relationships with clients, local partners, residents, and internal teams
- Maintain a consistent and professional presence as the first point of contact for residents
- Represent Hill at external meetings and forums relating to social value and community engagement
- Encourage supply chain partners to contribute to social value outcomes and monitor their performance
- Promote Hill’s values and behaviours in all interactions with the public and stakeholders
- Treat community and resident relationships as a valuable part of Hill’s long-term success
- Ensure project teams are briefed on key issues and resident matters
- Contribute to improving Hill’s community engagement strategy by sharing insights, challenges and opportunities
- Help ensure all communications are inclusive, accessible and aligned with Hill’s tone of voice
- Attend relevant training and contribute to internal knowledge sharing

- Deliver regional social value and community programmes aligned with project and group-level KPIs
- Develop project delivery plans, including timelines, partner engagement and reporting milestones
- Design and implement community initiatives that leave a meaningful and lasting legacy
- Collect, manage, and report real-time data, images and stories using tools like Impact Reporting, Social Value Portal & HACT Social Value Insight
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports for clients and internal stakeholders
- Liaise with the Bid and Development teams to supply case studies, examples of best practice, and bid input
- Ensure S.106 and local authority obligations are delivered effectively and on time
- Organise and chair community meetings, events, and resident briefings, including outside of standard hours where needed
- Respond to resident concerns and queries quickly and empathetically, working with project teams to minimise disruption
- Log all resident correspondence on our internal platform, Clixifix ensuring all communication is kept updated and closed out inline with business timelines
- Provide regular updates to project teams on local engagement and social value performance
- Update project web-based development pages on a quarterly basis, ensuring information is current and clearly communicated
- Support internal communications and social media teams with positive stories and impact content
- Track and manage spend against Social Value or Community Chest budget
- Identify and apply for match funding or grants to extend programme reach
Required Skills & Experience
- Community engagement and social value delivery
- Experience in resident liaison or community roles
- Project and stakeholder management
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Event planning and facilitation
- Data collection, analysis and reporting
- Confident presenting to clients and stakeholders
- Use of Microsoft Office and reporting tools
- Ability to manage budgets and seek funding
- Self-motivated, adaptable and proactive
- Must be able to travel across sites and Hill Group head office (project/office locations cover Essex/Hertfordshire/Surrey)
