Job Introduction

Social Value Manager

Job Introduction

At Tarmac, we are committed to creating a lasting positive impact in the communities where we operate. We are looking for an ambitious and strategically minded Social Value Manager to lead and shape our social value agenda across the UK and wider international operations.

This is a high-profile role where you will position social value as a genuine business differentiator, helping to strengthen commercial success while delivering meaningful outcomes for people, communities and the environment. Working across a diverse range of stakeholders, from operational teams and commercial functions to customers, community partners and supply chain organisations, you will play a pivotal role in embedding social value into everything we do.

If you are passionate about creating measurable social impact, influencing senior stakeholders and driving innovative approaches that support business growth, this is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference at scale.

What You'll Be Doing

As our Social Value Manager, you will lead the development and delivery of Tarmac's social value strategy, ensuring it remains aligned with customer expectations, procurement frameworks and evolving legislation. You will champion social value across the business and support teams to translate commitments into tangible outcomes.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing Tarmac's social value strategy to support both commercial objectives and community impact
  • Building, leading and supporting a nationwide network of Social Value Ambassadors to deliver consistent, place-based engagement across regions
  • Identifying emerging social value trends, legislation and customer requirements to maintain a market-leading approach
  • Working closely with commercial and major project teams to develop compelling, evidence-based social value responses for significant bids and tenders
  • Shaping winning bid strategies by creating credible, measurable and deliverable social value commitments
  • Building strong relationships with customers, local authorities, industry bodies, community organisations and social enterprise partners
  • Representing Tarmac at key industry forums and strengthening partnerships that support our social value ambitions
  • Collaborating with HR, Communications, Operations and Procurement teams to embed social value into everyday business decisions
  • Leading social value reporting, measurement and performance analysis, ensuring robust data collection and evidence management
  • Producing impactful case studies, reports and communications that demonstrate the positive outcomes created through our work
  • Supporting ESG reporting requirements and maintaining evidence for external accreditations and customer reporting

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
