This is a high-profile role where you will position social value as a genuine business differentiator, helping to strengthen commercial success while delivering meaningful outcomes for people, communities and the environment. Working across a diverse range of stakeholders, from operational teams and commercial functions to customers, community partners and supply chain organisations, you will play a pivotal role in embedding social value into everything we do.

What You'll Be Doing
As our Social Value Manager, you will lead the development and delivery of Tarmac's social value strategy, ensuring it remains aligned with customer expectations, procurement frameworks and evolving legislation. You will champion social value across the business and support teams to translate commitments into tangible outcomes.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing Tarmac's social value strategy to support both commercial objectives and community impact
- Building, leading and supporting a nationwide network of Social Value Ambassadors to deliver consistent, place-based engagement across regions
- Identifying emerging social value trends, legislation and customer requirements to maintain a market-leading approach
- Working closely with commercial and major project teams to develop compelling, evidence-based social value responses for significant bids and tenders
- Shaping winning bid strategies by creating credible, measurable and deliverable social value commitments
- Building strong relationships with customers, local authorities, industry bodies, community organisations and social enterprise partners
- Representing Tarmac at key industry forums and strengthening partnerships that support our social value ambitions
- Collaborating with HR, Communications, Operations and Procurement teams to embed social value into everyday business decisions
- Leading social value reporting, measurement and performance analysis, ensuring robust data collection and evidence management
- Producing impactful case studies, reports and communications that demonstrate the positive outcomes created through our work
- Supporting ESG reporting requirements and maintaining evidence for external accreditations and customer reporting

What We Are Looking For
We're seeking a driven and influential professional who can balance strategic thinking with practical delivery. You'll be comfortable working across a complex, matrix organisation and able to inspire action without direct authority.
You'll ideally have:
- Experience within social value, community engagement, sustainability or a related discipline, ideally within construction, infrastructure or a similar sector
- Experience supporting or leading tender submissions and major bid responses
- Strong knowledge of public sector procurement frameworks and social value requirements, including PPN guidance, Social Value Model principles and industry frameworks
- Experience using social value measurement tools such as TOMs, SVP or equivalent methodologies
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and build credibility at all levels
- Strong written communication skills, including bid writing, reporting and case study development
- The ability to analyse data and translate insights into meaningful actions and recommendations
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders across commercial, operational and community-facing teams
- A degree in a relevant subject area, or equivalent practical experience
