About this opportunity

Come and join an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ Children and Families Service, where staff wellbeing is a clear priority. We are proud to be finalists in the Supportive Social Work Employer category at the National Social Worker of the Year Awards 2025.

Our teams are area based, meaning you work within local communities so will be able to build links with families and partner agencies. It is really important to us that Westmorland and Furness is a great place to be a child and grow up; a place of opportunity where young people are able to live happy and productive lives and a place where young people will want to live and work in the future.

We firmly believe that all children in Westmorland and Furness deserve the best start in life, and we're looking for the right people to help make that happen.

We have current Social Work opportunities within our Support and Protect team in Barrow.

Support and Protect: working with children and families on a short- longer term basis, completing assessments and working across the thresholds of Child in Need and Child Protection. Also, for some children where concerns escalate, working in the legal framework of pre-proceedings or within the court arena.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
