MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO THE LIVES OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE
Lancashire Child and Youth Justice Service is looking for a passionate and dedicated Social Worker to join our team on a maternity cover basis until July 2027.
Our service works with children and young people aged 10-18 who are involved in, or at risk of becoming involved in, offending or anti-social behaviour. We provide support to children, families, victims and communities, helping to enhance safety, reduce offending and create opportunities for positive futures.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Social Worker within the Child and Youth Justice Service, you will play a key role in supporting children and their families/carers through effective assessments, interventions and relationship-based practice. This is a rewarding opportunity to work directly with young people, helping them overcome barriers, make positive choices and achieve meaningful outcomes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
