About the Role:
Are you an experienced Social Worker looking to make a meaningful impact in rehabilitation and aged care? Canberra Health Services is seeking a motivated Social Worker to join our Community Health & Integrated Care (CHIC) Inpatient Social Work Team, supporting patients across The Canberra Hospital and the University of Canberra Hospital.

In this diverse and rewarding role, you will provide high-quality psychosocial assessment and intervention to adults with complex rehabilitation, aged care, medical and psychosocial needs. Working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, you'll help patients and their families navigate health challenges, facilitate discharge planning, and achieve positive health and wellbeing outcomes.

As part of a collaborative and experienced social work team, you'll have the opportunity to apply your clinical expertise across a varied caseload, contribute to innovative service delivery, and support the development of future social workers through student and peer supervision, while helping deliver person-centred care and the best possible outcomes for patients and their families.

Please note:

  • This is a permanent, full-time role, available from 28th September 2026.
  • Must hold a Social Work qualification and have a minimum of three years post-graduation experience. Experience working professionally in hospital or a health care setting is preferred.
  • Part-time hours of 0.8FTE or above may be considered.
  • A merit list may be created to fill similar roles at the same level over the next 12 months.

  • Current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.
  • Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.
  • Comply with CHS credentialing and scope of clinical practice requirements for allied health professionals.
