Company Description
Banya Fostering is an independent fostering provider whose fully supported foster carers look after children and young people placed by local authorities. The organization supports foster carer households across Greater London and surrounding areas, offering stable and nurturing placements. Since its founding in 1997, Banya has helped hundreds of children and young people through high-quality foster care. Banya provides care for a wide range of needs and has particular expertise in placing sibling groups, unaccompanied children and young people from overseas, children with special needs, and teenagers facing complex challenges.
Role Description
The Social Worker will initially do assessments of potential foster carers and then provide professional support to foster carers, children, and young people, ensuring that placements are safe, nurturing, and aligned with statutory requirements and best practice.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Conducting visits to foster homes
- Completing assessments and reviews
- Writing clear and timely reports
- Liaising with local authorities and other agencies to coordinate care plans

The role involves offering guidance, training input, and emotional support to foster carers, advocating for children’s rights and welfare, and contributing to safeguarding procedures. This is a part-time, on-site role based in Aylesbury, requiring regular travel within the local area as part of direct work with foster households.
Qualifications
- Professional social work qualification (e.g., degree in Social Work) and current registration with the relevant social work regulatory body.
- Experience in fostering, children’s social care, or related child and family services, including work with diverse and vulnerable young people.
- Strong assessment, report-writing, and case management skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and meet statutory deadlines.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with foster carers, local authorities, and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Sound understanding of safeguarding, child protection legislation, and looked-after children regulations and guidance.
- Ability to work independently, manage a varied caseload, and exercise sound professional judgment in complex situations.
- Commitment to equality, inclusion, and trauma-informed practice, with sensitivity to cultural, linguistic, and individual differences.
- Willingness and ability to travel locally for home visits and meetings; a valid driving license is highly beneficial.
