Staffordshire County Council

Make a real difference at the very first point of contact.

Are you a passionate and skilled Social Worker who thrives in a fast-paced environment where your decisions truly shape outcomes for children and families?

If so, the Staffordshire Families Integrated Front Door (SFIFD) is on an ambitious improvement journey – and we’re looking for Social Workers who want to be part of something impactful, dynamic and forward-thinking.

Why Join the Front Door?

At the Staffordshire Families Integrated Front Door (SFIFD), you’ll be at the heart of safeguarding in Staffordshire. Every call, contact and conversation matters – and your professional judgement will help ensure that children get the right support at the right time.

You will be part of a supportive, collaborative and learning-focused team that is committed to delivering high-quality social work practice. This is an environment where you’ll grow, develop and feel genuinely valued.

Main Responsibilities

You'll:

  • Assess the needs of children and young people, identifying risk and deciding what support or protection is required
  • Work closely with partners to share information and make safe shared decisions
  • Use your professional curiosity, decision-making skills and understanding of thresholds to ensure children’s safety
  • Manage your own caseload with the support of a Team Manager, developing increased autonomy as you progress
  • Maintain high-quality, timely and accurate case records
  • Contribute to service improvement by sharing best practice, ideas and learning
  • Provide guidance to student social workers and apprentices.

The Ideal Candidate

You will need:

  • A recognised social work qualification and Social Work England registration
  • Experience of working in children’s social care
  • Strong assessment, analytical and communication skills
  • Confidence working with partner agencies in a multi-agency environment
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and strengths-based practice
  • A passion for making a difference—right from the first conversation with a family

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
