Working Hours: 35 Hours Per Week

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Working Style: Hybrid - Employees split their time between working remotely (e.g., from home) and working on-site (e.g., in an office).

Additional Payments: Essential Car User Allowance

  • DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance - this post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Appointable candidates will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. This is an exciting opportunity to join as a Social Worker the Integrated Neighbourhood Team (INT) for Gorton and Levenshulme based at the Gorton Hub office. You will be joining a friendly and supportive team who are passionate about improving both health and social care outcomes for the people of Gorton and Levenshulme.

Through carrying out care act assessments and creating and reviewing care plans, you will be responsible for ensuring that the citizen's of Gorton and Levenshulme are able to live safely and as independently as possible. You will be responsible for carrying out our safeguarding duties to keep people safe from harm, working collaboratively with a range of professionals and partner agencies.

Effective communication skills and knowledge and use of relevant legislation are required for the role, as well as a solid appreciation of strength-based and person-centred practice.

The Gorton INT is a busy team based on the Eastern side of the central locality, covering a diverse range of citizens with varying strengths and needs. The team is settled, hard-working and friendly, with an established culture of supporting one another and striving to achieve the best outcomes for our citizens.

Being based in the Gorton Hub, we promote multi-disciplinary working and work closely with colleagues from a range of partner agencies. We are passionate to work for Manchester City Council and for the citizens of Manchester.

The role holder will be responsible for the safe delivery of social care functions, ensuring the effective discharge of statutory responsibilities and the provision of a high quality standard of service. The role holder will manage safeguarding risk effectively, working within a multi-agency environment to provide a professional social work service.

Essential requirements for the role:

  • Social Work Qualification with 1 year post qualifying experience
  • Registered with Social Work England
  • Communication Skills: Is able to effectively transfer key and complex information to all levels of staff, adapting the style of communication as necessary and ensuring that this information is understood. Ability to advise others and deal with sensitive issues in difficult situations inside and outside own area, negotiating riskier demands.
  • Planning and Organising Skills: Excellent time management skills, creating own work schedules, prioritising, preparing in advance and setting realistic timescales for own self and others. Has the ability to visualise a sequence of actions needed to achieve a specific goal and how to estimate the resources required.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to absorb, understand and quickly assimilate complex information and concepts and compare information from a number of different sources. Ability to identify patterns and trends that may impact on decisions and propose realistic conclusions identifying the risks and any assumptions made.
  • Problem Solving and Decision Making Skills: Strong decision making skills with the ability to resolve complex issues in a pressurised environment.
  • ICT Skills: Ability to use IT systems to retrieve, record and update information and willingness to learn to use new systems.
  • Creative Skills: Ability to find creative solutions where there are no existing parameters or procedural framework
