Worcestershire County Council

Job Title: Social Worker

Salary: £32,061 - £41,771 (depending on experience). This offer also includes a £3000 market forces supplement.

Hours: 37 Hours per week

Team/Location: Malvern Area Team at Malvern and Upton upon Severn

Position Type: Permanent, Full-time

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Social Worker to join the Malvern Hills Area Social Work Team. Are you enthusiastic, dynamic, and want to join a dedicated and very supportive team delivering Adult Social Care across a picturesque and historic Malvern Hills area of Worcestershire? If so, then this vacancy is just right for you.

In Worcestershire we have adopted the 3 Conversation model of practice which involves a strength-based approach to working with people. You will manage your own caseload with appropriate supervision and have the ability to approve and purchase support packages to support people to make positive changes in their life. You will need to have the confidence to advocate for our clients and work in partnership with health colleagues, other statutory partners, and voluntary sector providers. You will be actively supported and given the opportunities to be creative, innovative and search for strength-based solutions.

We are a very supportive and friendly team. We promote a positive team culture and learning environment which includes weekly reflective practice and catch-up sessions, along with a hybrid model of office and home-based working.

You will be offered ongoing training and professional development opportunities, monthly supervision, and a warm, supportive working environment where your contribution will be valued within a team of members who value and support each other.

Quotes from the Team:

“I joined the Malvern team having worked in a lot of other local authorities. We are a supportive and experienced team, and I have made good friends. Most of the team have worked here for years and are happy to share their knowledge and experience. We cover a mix of small towns and rural areas, and working in an area of outstanding natural beauty is an added bonus. But best of all, as an experienced social worker I can authorise funding of up to £250 a week, which reflects the trust Worcestershire place in social workers and social care workers. Managers understand the pressures facing the whole of adult social care and I feel listened to and valued by colleagues.”

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
