The successful candidate will work with adults, carers, families, community resources, and partner agencies to promote independence, wellbeing, and positive outcomes. This role requires a confident Social Worker with strong assessment skills, safeguarding experience, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-agency environment whilst managing a varied and complex caseload.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Manage a varied caseload of adults with complex care and support needs within a locality-based Adult Social Care team.
- Undertake Care Act 2014 assessments, reviews, eligibility determinations, and support planning to promote positive outcomes and independence.
- Use the Three Conversations approach to understand what matters most to individuals and identify strengths, community assets, and support networks.
- Support people in crisis to regain control of their lives through strengths-based and person-centred interventions.
- Develop and implement outcome-focused Care and Support Plans that maximise independence and wellbeing.
- Lead and coordinate Section 42 safeguarding enquiries and respond to complex, high-risk situations.
- Undertake Mental Capacity Assessments and contribute to Best Interest decision-making in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
- Work collaboratively with health professionals, community services, voluntary organisations, care providers, carers, and partner agencies to provide integrated support.
- Promote social inclusion, empowerment, social change, and community-based solutions that support people to live their best lives.
- Prepare high-quality assessments, reports, support plans, and professional documentation.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and legally compliant case records and performance information.
- Contribute to service development, professional learning, and continuous improvement initiatives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
