Description
Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent
Specialist Adult Social Worker to work with people who are hoarding.
The Locality based Social Care Team is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to provide specialized, trauma-informed support to individuals experiencing hoarding behaviours and chronic disorganization. This role goes beyond traditional case management, requiring a practitioner who blends deep clinical empathy with the resilience needed to navigate high-risk, complex environments. Operating at the intersection of mental health, public safety, and social care, you will act as the lead coordinator in a robust multi-agency and multi-disciplinary network. You will work daily alongside housing officers, fire and rescue services, environmental health, psychiatric teams, and community charities to co-create holistic, person-centered intervention plans. Because hoarding is often rooted in trauma, loss, or mental health conditions, your primary focus will be building deep, non-judgmental trust with individuals who may be resistant to change. By balancing a client's right to autonomy with vital safeguarding duties, you will de-escalate environmental crises, lead collaborative risk assessments, and guide gradual, sustainable lifestyle changes to improve safety and long-term well-being.

What You'll Be Doing
- No two days are the same, you'll be working with people who experience hoarding.
- You will have conversations with them to discuss what matters to them and others around them.
- You'll have a can-do attitude, a good awareness of the local information and advice that is available and use this to support people and their carers to solutions, drawing on what they already have around them that is working, or could work.
- You'll work in partnership with others across social care, Health, Probation, Fire services and Housing teams.
What You Need
- Due to the nature of this role you’ll need to be registered with Social Work England, hold a valid driving UK licence, and will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
