Social Worker / Advanced Social Worker – Assessment Team (Permanent)
Location: Swindon Borough Council (Hybrid working available)
Salary: £45,091 Social Worker / £50,269 Experienced Social Worker / £51,356 Advanced Social Worker
Contract: Permanent

The Role
As a Social Worker within the Assessment Team, you will:

- Undertake timely child and family assessments in response to new referrals and contacts.
- Analyse risk, need, and protective factors to inform proportionate next steps.
- Complete section 47 enquiries alongside partner agencies where required.
- Build rapid, purposeful relationships with children and families at the front door.
- Make clear, defensible recommendations for step-up, step-down, or closure.
- For Experienced and Advanced Social Workers: provide guidance, mentoring, and support to less experienced colleagues.
About You
You will be a committed and capable practitioner with:
- A recognised Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration.
- Post-qualifying experience within Children's Social Care.
- Strong assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Confidence working with complexity, risk, and multi-agency partners.
- A clear commitment to relationship-based and strengths-led practice.
