Social Worker / Advanced Social Worker – Assessment Team (Permanent)

Location: Swindon Borough Council (Hybrid working available)

Salary: £45,091 Social Worker / £50,269 Experienced Social Worker / £51,356 Advanced Social Worker

Contract: Permanent

As a Social Worker within the Assessment Team, you will:

  • Undertake timely child and family assessments in response to new referrals and contacts.
  • Analyse risk, need, and protective factors to inform proportionate next steps.
  • Complete section 47 enquiries alongside partner agencies where required.
  • Build rapid, purposeful relationships with children and families at the front door.
  • Make clear, defensible recommendations for step-up, step-down, or closure.
  • For Experienced and Advanced Social Workers: provide guidance, mentoring, and support to less experienced colleagues.

About You

You will be a committed and capable practitioner with:

  • A recognised Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration.
  • Post-qualifying experience within Children's Social Care.
  • Strong assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Confidence working with complexity, risk, and multi-agency partners.
  • A clear commitment to relationship-based and strengths-led practice.
