About the Role
As a Software Architect, you will provide architectural leadership across the product portfolio, ensuring the delivery of scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions. Working closely with Principal Engineers, delivery teams, and enterprise stakeholders, you will guide architectural decisions, promote engineering excellence, and ensure solutions align with business objectives and long-term technology strategy.
Responsibilities
- Deliver scalable, secure and maintainable software architectures aligned to business objectives and technology strategy.
- Define architectural direction and governance to ensure consistency, quality and compliance across products and platforms.
- Ensure solutions meet security, resilience, scalability, performance and operational supportability requirements.
- Reduce technical debt, complexity and technology sprawl through architectural leadership and sound decision-making.
- Enable engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions through guidance, mentoring and architectural oversight.
- Drive platform simplification, reuse and continuous improvement to improve maintainability and delivery effectiveness.
- Establish architectural health measures and use them to guide optimisation and investment decisions.
- Influence technology strategy, roadmap planning and adoption of emerging technologies to support long-term business success.

Requirements
- Experience in software engineering and software architecture roles within complex enterprise environments.
- Proven experience designing and governing large-scale distributed software systems and cloud-native architectures.
- Strong understanding of software architecture principles, patterns and modern architectural practices including microservices, event-driven architecture and domain-driven design.
- Experience defining solution architectures, integration patterns and non-functional requirements for business-critical systems.
- Strong knowledge of API design, systems integration, messaging technologies and distributed systems.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and modern engineering practices including containerisation, infrastructure-as-code and observability.
- Ability to assess architectural trade-offs and make balanced decisions across business value, technical risk, delivery timelines and operational considerations.
- Strong understanding of security, resilience, identity management, disaster recovery and business continuity.
