The role: Principal Software Architect - Java | DDD | TypeScript | AWS
Who: Appvia.io
Salary: £80k to £100k basic (DOE) + 10% bonus + 10% share options + benefits
Where: London: hybrid working (1 to 2 days per month in office)
If you've genuinely led domain discovery, owned architecture end-to-end, and delivered microservice boundaries that actually come from the domain, not a workshop whiteboard, this is for you.
Appvia.io do serious work. They need someone who has done it, not studied it.
What you'll bring:
- Deep, hands-on DDD: strategic and tactical, applied in production. Not theory.
- Proven domain discovery leadership: Event Storming, domain storytelling, or equivalent. You drive the room.
- End-to-end architectural ownership: ADRs, C4, defending decisions at senior stakeholder level.
- Java / Spring Boot as your core: TypeScript / React alongside it. Close enough to the code to be credible.
- A consulting mindset: you translate messy business problems into clean technical solutions.
- A track record of raising engineering capability, mentoring, leaving things better than you found them.
