The role: Principal Software Architect (Domain-Driven, Delivery-Focused)

Who: Appvia.io

Where: London (hybrid working (1-2 days per month at a minimum)

What you get: £80-100k DOE + 10% Bonus + 10% share options

Appvia is a cloud, platform and software engineering consultancy doing serious work, and we need a Principal Software Architect who has genuinely led domain discovery, owned solution design end-to-end, and delivered microservice architectures where service boundaries actually come from the domain, not from a diagram drawn in a workshop.

You'll need to bring:

  • Real, hands-on DDD experience: strategic and tactical patterns applied to complex systems in production. Not theory, not advisory, but actually done it.
  • Proven leadership of domain discovery with business stakeholders: Event storming, domain storytelling, or equivalent. You drive the room, you don't just facilitate it.
  • End-to-end architectural ownership: ADRs, C4, defending decisions at senior stakeholder level with confidence.
  • Strong full-stack delivery capability: Java / Spring Boot as your core, TypeScript / React alongside it. You're still close enough to the code to be credible with engineers.
  • A consulting mindset: you translate messy business problems into clean technical solutions, not the other way around.
  • Experience growing architectural thinking across a team: mentoring engineers, raising the bar, leaving things better than you found them.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
