Department Overview
At Motorola Solutions, we are "Solving for safer." Safety and security are at the heart of everything we do. Our Control Room Solutions provide the backbone for emergency response across the UK and Europe. Our mission-critical applications help 999 operators respond to calls and dispatch nearby responders when every second counts. As our Guardian and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) solutions expand among Fire, Police, and Ambulance agencies, we build and connect new technologies to increase the safety and efficiency of emergency response agencies, ultimately helping our customers save lives.
Job Description
We believe that everything starts with our people, and we empower every Motorolan to do their best work to help protect what matters most. In this role, you will take technical ownership of assigned Guardian system deployments across public safety clients. Working as part of a high-performing engineering team in a flexible hybrid model—with occasional travel to customer sites—you will drive the end-to-end technical execution of system architecture, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting. Partnering closely with Technical Project Managers, customer IT infrastructure leads, and product engineering teams, you will deliver resilient solutions that safeguard emergency services personnel and the public.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Deployment & System Configuration
- Take full technical ownership of Guardian software solution deployments from contract award through to successful go-live
- Analyse customer technical requirements to design, build, and configure mission-critical software systems that align directly with operational SOW guidelines
- Conduct hands-on system installation, software deployment, and infrastructure troubleshooting to resolve complex technical challenges during delivery

Customer & Integration Engineering
- Partner directly with customer IT, infrastructure, and emergency services technical leads to seamlessly integrate software solutions into client environments
- Serve as the principal technical contact for customer projects, evaluating supplier designs and serving as a quality gate for vendor deliverables
- Collaborate across public safety stakeholders during initial project workshops and go-live phases to nurture long-term technical relationships
Documentation & Product Collaboration
- Author clear, comprehensive technical documentation covering system designs, network configurations, and deployment specifications
- Channel field deployment insights and feature requests directly back to product engineering teams to drive continuous software improvements
- Maintain complete operational alignment across cross-functional internal engineering teams, third-party suppliers, and customer technical contacts
Basic Requirements
- Qualification in Computing Science, Systems Architecture, IT, or experience in Software Deployment.
- Ability to obtain NPPV3 security clearance (requires UK residency for a minimum of 5 years)
Job Requirements
Technical Expertise
- Software Deployment Models to manage end-to-end software installation, platform configuration, and system architecture rollouts
- Infrastructure & Network Troubleshooting to diagnose, analyze, and resolve complex deployment challenges across OS, server, and network environments
- Networking Principles to oversee system security, WAN/LAN configurations, routing, and firewall considerations
- Microsoft Server & Azure knowledge to deploy and configure applications across on-premises Microsoft environments and cloud deployment models
- Database & Web Services familiarity with SQL (e.g., Microsoft SQL) and web service integration technologies (REST, SOAP)
Professional Experience
- Public Safety & Mission-Critical Sector Familiarity experience or strong technical operational understanding of Police, Fire and Rescue, Ambulance, or emergency dispatch systems
- System Troubleshooting demonstrated ability to systematically isolate system or infrastructure faults and interface effectively with software development teams for bug fixes
- Stakeholder Communication proven skill in communicating technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences, including customer IT directors, project managers, and third-party vendors
- Agile & Source Control exposure to operating within structured Agile workflows and utilising source code repositories such as Git

Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
- Hands-on experience with cloud deployment automation and cloud-hosted infrastructure (e.g., Microsoft Azure)
- Prior background working within control room technology environments, CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch), or blue-light sector competitors (e.g., Saab, Frequentis, Zetron)
- Practical knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts (e.g., Java) or basic scripting for automated deployments
