About Whitespace Software

Whitespace Software, part of Verisk, builds technology that powers digital risk placement in the global specialty insurance market. Our platform enables brokers and insurers to collaborate more efficiently, process business faster, and operate with greater transparency.

You will be contributing to a product that is actively shaping how specialty insurance works, with real impact across international markets.

The Opportunity

This role is for an experienced engineer who wants to take a leading technical role while remaining hands-on.

  • Work on a complex, high-performing platform, helping design and deliver new functionality while ensuring systems are scalable, reliable, and secure.
  • Guide other engineers, contributing to technical direction and raising the overall quality of delivery.
  • Influence architecture, shape how solutions are built, and play an important part in mentoring junior engineers.
  • Your work will directly impact how the platform evolves and performs at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement new features across a scalable, production platform.
  • Lead technical design discussions and contribute to architecture decisions.
  • Work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code using modern development practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Review code, share feedback, and support continuous improvement across the team.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across the platform.
  • Contribute to improving engineering processes, tools, and standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience building and maintaining complex software systems.
  • Proven experience with Angular and TypeScript as core technologies.
  • Exposure to Node.js and ideally Swift or other modern languages.
  • Experience working with NoSQL databases such as Couchbase, MongoDB, or similar.
  • Knowledge of microservices architectures and container-based environments.
  • Solid understanding of software design patterns, architecture, and best practices.
  • Experience working in Agile environments with modern development workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting other engineers.
