About The Role
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Voice Services Developer to join our team on a 4+ year contract based in Suffolk. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and maintaining cutting-edge communication platforms that leverage both traditional telecommunication protocols and modern cloud-based artificial intelligence technologies. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of SIP services, telephony engines, and cloud deployment strategies, enabling them to build scalable, reliable, and innovative voice solutions.
The Voice Services Developer will work closely with senior architects, DevOps teams, and AI specialists to develop stable SIP services, manage media servers, and integrate advanced Speech AI functionalities across multi-cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the future of communication technologies by developing voice applications that are efficient, secure, and intelligent.

Qualifications
- Strong background in Java development, with extensive experience in multi-threading and network programming.
- Profound knowledge of Java applications utilizing JAIN SLEE and SIP Servlet frameworks.
- Hands-on experience configuring and scripting with telephony engines like FreeSWITCH or Asterisk.
- Solid understanding of voice protocols such as SIP, RTP/RTCP, and SDP.
- Experience with integrating cloud speech APIs such as AWS Transcribe/Polly, Azure Speech, and Google Cloud Speech-to-Text is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with deploying and managing applications across multiple cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Proficiency with VoIP troubleshooting tools like Wireshark or sngrep.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with Java telephony frameworks such as Metaswitch Rhino SLEE or Oracle OCCAS, as well as knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- An understanding of WebRTC protocols and telephony security standards such as TLS and SRTP will be advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain high-performance SIP-based voice services utilizing frameworks like JAIN SLEE and SIP Servlets to ensure reliable communication channels.
- Configure, manage, and scale media servers such as FreeSWITCH or Asterisk to support voice applications and telephony services.
- Implement Speech-to-Text (STT), Text-to-Speech (TTS), and Natural Language Processing (NLP) workflows into live voice streams to enhance user interactions with AI-powered voice solutions.
- Deploy, monitor, and optimize voice applications across multi-cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, ensuring high availability and scalability.
- Utilize network analysis tools like Wireshark or sngrep to diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to audio quality, call drops, and latency, maintaining optimal system performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including senior architects and DevOps, to develop and deploy scalable conversational AI bots and voice applications.
- Participate in code reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives to uphold high-quality standards and best practices in voice communication development.
