About The Role

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Voice Services Developer to join our dynamic team on a 4+ year contract based in Suffolk. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining cutting-edge communication platforms that leverage both traditional telecommunication protocols and modern cloud-based AI technologies. This role involves building scalable SIP services, managing open-source media engines, and integrating advanced Speech AI functionalities across multi-cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in Java development, telephony protocols, and cloud operations, with a passion for innovation in voice communication solutions.

Qualifications

  • Professional experience with Java programming, including multi-threading and network programming.
  • In-depth knowledge of Java applications utilizing JAIN SLEE framework and SIP Servlet frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and scripting with telephony engines such as FreeSWITCH or Asterisk.
  • Solid understanding of SIP, RTP/RTCP, and SDP protocols.
  • Experience integrating cloud speech APIs like AWS Transcribe/Polly, Azure Speech, and Google Cloud Speech-to-Text.
  • Proficiency with VoIP troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark or sngrep.
  • Experience deploying and managing applications across multi-cloud environments including AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Java telephony frameworks like Metaswitch Rhino SLEE or Oracle OCCAS.
  • Containerization using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of WebRTC and telephony security standards such as TLS and SRTP.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and maintain high-performance SIP-based voice services utilizing frameworks like JAIN SLEE and SIP Servlets.
  • Configure, manage, and scale media servers such as FreeSWITCH or Asterisk to support voice communication needs.
  • Implement Speech-to-Text (STT), Text-to-Speech (TTS), and Natural Language Processing (NLP) workflows to enhance live voice streams with AI capabilities.
  • Deploy voice applications across multiple cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, ensuring high availability and scalability.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot voice communication systems using network analysis tools, diagnosing issues related to audio quality, call drops, and latency.
  • Collaborate with senior architects and DevOps teams to develop and deploy scalable conversational AI bots and voice solutions.
  • Maintain documentation of system configurations, workflows, and troubleshooting procedures to support ongoing maintenance and upgrades.
