About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Developer to join a dynamic and expanding technology organization based in Gloucester. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years of commercial software development experience, demonstrating a strong technical background and a passion for coding excellence. A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred, although equivalent professional experience will also be considered. Candidates should have extensive experience with Java and/or C++, with proven ability to develop secure, reliable, and maintainable software solutions. Familiarity with Linux environments, software architecture, and object-oriented design principles is essential. Additionally, experience working with relational and NoSQL databases, version control systems like Git, and modern development workflows is required. Candidates should also have hands-on experience with containerization technologies such as Docker, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud platforms, reflecting the modern landscape of software engineering.
Responsibilities
- Designing, developing, and enhancing software applications using Java and/or C++
- Leading technical delivery across key projects, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with business objectives
- Contributing to software architecture and technical decision-making
- Developing APIs, backend services, and applications
- Troubleshooting complex software issues and implementing effective solutions
- Mentoring junior developers, conducting code reviews, and promoting best engineering practices
- Working closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure technical specifications are met
- Participating in testing, deployment, and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize software performance and reliability
