About The Role
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Voice Services Developer to join our team on a 4+ year contract based in Suffolk. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of communication technology, developing and maintaining next-generation voice platforms that integrate traditional telecommunication protocols with modern cloud-based AI solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing SIP-based voice services, managing open-source media engines, and integrating advanced Speech AI technologies across multi-cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, innovative problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable voice communication solutions.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Java programming, with extensive experience in multi-threaded and network application development. A deep understanding of Java applications utilizing the JAIN SLEE framework and SIP Servlet frameworks is essential. Hands-on experience configuring and scripting telephony engines such as FreeSWITCH or Asterisk is required, along with a solid grasp of voice protocols including SIP, RTP/RTCP, and SDP. Familiarity with cloud speech APIs like AWS Transcribe, Polly, Azure Speech, and Google Cloud Speech-to-Text is necessary. Candidates should have practical experience deploying and managing applications across multiple cloud platforms—AWS, Azure, and GCP—and proficiency with VoIP troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark or sngrep. Preferred qualifications include experience with Java telephony frameworks like Metaswitch Rhino SLEE or Oracle OCCAS, knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, and understanding of WebRTC and telephony security standards such as TLS and SRTP.

Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain high-performance SIP-based voice services using frameworks like JAIN SLEE and SIP Servlets to ensure robust and scalable communication channels.
- Configure, manage, and optimize media servers such as FreeSWITCH or Asterisk to support voice traffic efficiently.
- Integrate Speech AI workflows, including Speech-to-Text, Text-to-Speech, and Natural Language Processing, into live voice streams to enhance conversational capabilities.
- Deploy and monitor voice applications across multiple cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, ensuring high availability and security.
- Troubleshoot network and audio quality issues using advanced network analysis tools, diagnosing call drops, latency, and audio quality problems.
- Collaborate closely with senior architects and DevOps teams to design and deploy scalable conversational AI bots, contributing to the continuous improvement of voice service offerings.
- Maintain documentation, participate in code reviews, and stay updated with emerging voice communication technologies to ensure the solutions remain innovative and competitive.
