About The Role
We are currently seeking a skilled Voice Services Developer to join our dynamic team on a 4+ year contract based in Suffolk. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing next-generation communication platforms. Your primary focus will be bridging traditional telecommunication protocols with modern cloud-based AI technologies, ensuring seamless integration and high performance of voice services. You will develop stable SIP services using Java, manage open-source media engines, and incorporate advanced Speech AI technologies across multi-cloud environments including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess professional experience with Java programming, including multi-threading and network programming. A deep understanding of Java applications utilizing frameworks such as JAIN SLEE and SIP Servlet Frameworks is essential. Hands-on experience configuring and scripting with telephony engines like FreeSWITCH or Asterisk is required. Candidates should have a solid understanding of telephony protocols including SIP, RTP/RTCP, and SDP. Experience integrating cloud speech APIs such as AWS Transcribe/Polly, Azure Speech, and Google Cloud Speech-to-Text is highly desirable. Additionally, familiarity with deploying and managing applications across multiple cloud platforms—AWS, Azure, and GCP—is necessary. Proficiency with VoIP troubleshooting tools like Wireshark or sngrep will be advantageous. Preferred qualifications include experience with Java telephony frameworks like Metaswitch Rhino SLEE or Oracle OCCAS, as well as knowledge of containerization using Docker and Kubernetes, and understanding of WebRTC and telephony security standards such as TLS and SRTP.

Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain high-performance SIP-based voice services utilizing frameworks such as JAIN SLEE and SIP Servlets to ensure reliable communication channels.
- Configure, manage, and scale media servers like FreeSWITCH or Asterisk to support voice applications.
- Implement and integrate Speech AI workflows, including Speech-to-Text (STT), Text-to-Speech (TTS), and Natural Language Processing (NLP), into live voice streams to enhance user interactions.
- Deploy voice applications across multiple cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
- Monitor system health, troubleshoot network and audio quality issues, and resolve call drops or latency problems using advanced network analysis tools.
- Collaborate closely with senior architects and DevOps teams to develop and deploy scalable conversational AI bots, contributing to the continuous improvement of voice communication systems.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of development processes, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures to support ongoing system enhancements and team knowledge sharing.
