About The Role
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Voice Services Developer to join our dynamic team on a 4+ year contract based in Suffolk. This role is pivotal in building, maintaining, and optimizing next-generation communication platforms that leverage both traditional telecommunication protocols and modern cloud-based AI technologies. As a Voice Services Developer, you will serve as a bridge between legacy telephony systems and cutting-edge cloud solutions, ensuring seamless integration and high-performance voice services. Your expertise will contribute to the development of stable SIP services, management of open-source media engines, and the integration of advanced Speech AI technologies across multi-cloud environments. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background with the following qualifications:
- Professional experience with Java programming, including multi-threading and network programming.
- In-depth knowledge of Java applications utilizing JAIN SLEE framework and SIP Servlet frameworks.
- Hands-on experience configuring and scripting with telephony engines such as FreeSWITCH or Asterisk.
- Solid understanding of voice protocols including SIP, RTP/RTCP, and SDP.
- Experience integrating cloud speech APIs such as AWS Transcribe/Polly, Azure Speech, or Google Cloud Speech-to-Text.
- Proficiency in deploying and managing applications across multi-cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
- Proficiency with network analysis tools like Wireshark or sngrep for VoIP troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes is preferred.
- Understanding of WebRTC and telephony security standards including TLS and SRTP is advantageous.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key duties:
- SIP Development: Design, develop, test, and maintain high-performance SIP-based voice services utilizing frameworks such as JAIN SLEE and SIP Servlets to ensure reliable communication channels.
- Media Server Administration: Configure, manage, and scale open-source media engines like FreeSWITCH or Asterisk to support robust voice communication solutions.
- Speech AI Integration: Implement and optimize Speech-to-Text (STT), Text-to-Speech (TTS), and Natural Language Processing (NLP) workflows to enhance voice interactions and automate responses.
- Cloud Operations: Deploy, monitor, and optimize voice applications across multiple cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, ensuring scalability and resilience.
- Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Utilize network analysis tools such as Wireshark or sngrep to diagnose and resolve issues related to audio quality, call drops, and latency to maintain high service quality.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with senior architects, DevOps teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to roll out scalable conversational AI bots and voice solutions.
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain comprehensive documentation of development processes, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures to ensure compliance and facilitate knowledge sharing.
