About Spondula
Spondula is opening access to the digital economy for people excluded from it. We build a borderless payments app that makes sending money as simple as sending a message. Our apps are live in beta on iOS and Android, and we are a small startup team shipping fast.
The role
You will build and ship features across our mobile apps, iOS (Swift, SwiftUI) and Android (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose), working to a shared design system so both platforms feel identical. Mobile is the core of the job, but this is a startup: you will also pick up web work (TypeScript, React, Next.js), backend integration, and general technical support when the team needs it. You will own features end to end, from design handoff to release.
We build with AI-assisted tooling every day and we like it that way. You should be fluent at directing AI coding tools, and sharp enough to catch their mistakes. What we care about is that you understand the code you ship.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we are looking for
- We weight ability over years. Strong fundamentals and fast learning beat a long CV here, and we would rather hire two years of brilliance than ten years of autopilot.
- Care for visual detail. Our apps are design-led and pixel discipline matters here.
- Comfortable with Git, code review, and testing as a normal part of shipping.
- Ownership: you notice problems, flag them, and fix them without being asked.
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. We care more about what you can build than where you learned it.
- Demonstrable work we can try: a published app, a live project, or a strong portfolio.
- Solid grounding in programming fundamentals: data structures, state management, and debugging beyond what an AI tool hands you.
- Experience with Swift/SwiftUI or Kotlin/Jetpack Compose. Both is a bonus, willingness to master both is required.
- Right to work in the UK. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
- Attention to detail matters to us. To show us yours, open your application message with the word navy.
