About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Developer to join Raytheon’s dynamic team, working on cutting-edge projects that support the transformation of British Army training systems. This role is based in Warminster, Wiltshire, with a hybrid working model that combines on-site and remote work to foster flexibility and collaboration. As a Software Developer within this program, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and cloud-native software solutions that directly contribute to national defense initiatives. Your work will involve integrating legacy systems with modern technologies, developing robust backend and frontend applications, and supporting the deployment of services across various cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and MODCloud. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a mission-driven environment where your technical expertise will help shape the future of military training and readiness.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years of experience in full-stack software development, demonstrating proficiency with modern frontend frameworks such as React or Angular, and backend technologies including Python, Java, JavaScript, Go, or.NET Core/.NET 5+. A strong background in containerization using Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes is essential, along with expertise in deploying and managing cloud-native applications on platforms like AWS, Azure, or MODCloud (OCP). Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Tekton, or Azure DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation is required. Candidates should have practical knowledge of static and dynamic code analysis tools like SonarQube and Snyk, and experience working with RESTful APIs for data ingestion and exposure. A current SC clearance or the ability to obtain one is necessary. Desirable qualifications include a degree in Software Engineering or related fields, experience with automated testing frameworks, performance tuning, data warehousing, secrets management, and monitoring tools.

Responsibilities
- Build secure, high-performance backend services utilizing languages such as Node.js, Python, Java, or.NET Core/.NET 5+.
- Integrate APIs, databases, and third-party services to ensure seamless data flow and system interoperability.
- Develop and maintain intuitive frontend interfaces using modern frameworks like React or Angular.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions with a cloud-first approach, leveraging cloud-native services and infrastructure.
- Containerize applications using Docker and orchestrate deployments with Kubernetes, including Red Hat OpenShift environments.
- Automate build, testing, and deployment pipelines employing tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Tekton, or Azure DevOps.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using Terraform or CloudFormation to manage infrastructure reliably.
- Participate in agile planning, estimation, and continuous improvement activities.
- Conduct peer code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards, performance optimization, and maintainability, utilizing static analysis tools like SonarQube.
- Contribute to the development of automated testing suites for unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Implement monitoring and observability solutions, including logging, metrics, and tracing, to maintain system health and performance.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies, industry best practices, and security standards such as OWASP and NIST.
- Monitor and respond to security vulnerabilities, ensuring compliance with security protocols and standards.
