Referment
Referment is working with a financial technology business that provides currency risk and cash management software to institutional investors and corporate treasury teams. The platform supports financial transactions, so testing needs to establish confidence in how products behave, not simply whether a release passes a checklist.
As a Software Developer in Test, you'll work within a full-stack product team alongside engineers, product specialists, designers and financial subject matter experts. Reporting to the QA Lead, you'll bring a testing perspective into product development from the initial idea through to delivery, combining hands-on automation with test planning and investigation.
The work includes extending regression coverage, helping colleagues resolve defects and influencing architecture so that systems are easier to test. Candidates need to be based within two hours of the UK time zone.

The Role
- Develop clear test plans and cases that cover product behaviour and the risks associated with changes.
- Build and maintain automated tests, extending regression packs and keeping coverage useful as the products evolve.
- Investigate and report issues, working with engineers and other team members to resolve them.
- Contribute to architecture discussions from a testability perspective, rather than waiting until development is complete.
- Track defect and quality measures, and evaluate testing tools and strategies that improve the team's approach.
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with foreign exchange systems and a strong understanding of software QA methods and processes.
- Hands-on Playwright experience, JavaScript programming ability and strong SQL skills.
- Experience with both white-box and black-box testing, with the judgement to choose the appropriate approach.
- Clear written and spoken English, attention to detail and a collaborative approach to resolving issues.
- The ability to use and prompt AI tools effectively for test planning, documentation and analysis.

Useful Additional Experience
- Cash management or interest-rate systems experience would add relevant context.
- AWS or Azure experience is also useful, particularly for provisioning test environments or running tests in the cloud.
This could suit an automation-focused QA engineer or SDET with financial systems experience who wants to contribute to product quality throughout development.
