About the Program
Join one of the most exciting student opportunities in technology and innovation! Each year, SAS welcomes a select group of interns to join us for a 10-12 week summer experience. In 2027, we will be hiring 8 R&D Interns in our Glasgow office across a variety of teams. As SAS's R&D hub in EMEA, Glasgow brings together talented engineers, developers, and innovators who build technology used by customers around the world.
As an intern, you'll work alongside experienced teams on real projects, gain hands-on technical experience, and contribute to solutions used by our customers from day one. You'll also become part of a vibrant intern community that extends beyond the summer internship. Alongside your fellow Summer Interns, you'll connect with year-round interns and recent graduates who began their careers through the same program. Many have chosen to continue their journey with SAS, reflecting the valuable learning opportunities, mentorship, and career growth the internship provides.

Available Opportunities
For our 2027 Summer R&D Internship Program, we are hiring Full-Stack Developers and Backend Developers across the following R&D teams in Glasgow:
- Model Manager
- Analytics Lifecycle
- Intelligent Decisioning
- Compute Engineering
- GenAI Platform
- Analytics
Regardless of the team you join, you'll work alongside experienced engineers, gain practical development experience, and contribute to technology used by customers around the world.
What you'll do
As an intern, you will work on real releases for real customers under Agile and CI/CD methodologies, experiencing every part of the development process. You will be integrated into a product team from Day 1, allowing you to learn from the highest calibre of talented and experienced R&D staff. You can expect to:
- Design and implement new features.
- Work with product management, UX and UI designers to define and design new features
- Collaborate with development teams to draft technical specifications and designs
- Implement new product features
- Participate in code reviews
- Improve testing automation and integration into our testing and delivery pipeline
- Make a real difference – and get paid while doing it!

Required qualifications
- You are a penultimate year bachelor's student in one of the STEM Faculties.
- Strong communication skills – both written and verbal.
- You are available to start the internship in 2027 late May and continue through the summer for 10-12 weeks.
- You have good programming skills, in at least 1 modern programming language.
- You are familiar with basic computing concepts.
- You’re curious, passionate, authentic, and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do.
