Job Title: Node.JS Developer
Salary: £55k-£60k
Location: Remote
Clearance: BPSS
Stages: 1 Stage
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Back End services using Node.js.
- Build and consume RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Develop secure, performant, and maintainable applications following best practices.
- Collaborate with Front End developers to integrate user-facing components.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Write clean, reusable, and well-tested code.
- Create unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
- Work closely with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines.
- Contribute to technical design discussions and architecture decisions.
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement performance improvements.
- Ensure solutions comply with government security, accessibility, and data protection standards.

Essential Skills

- Strong commercial experience with Node.js.
- Proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and/or TypeScript.
- Experience building REST APIs and microservices.
- Knowledge of Express.js or NestJS.
- Experience with asynchronous programming and event-driven architecture.
- Strong understanding of authentication and authorization (OAuth2, JWT).
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.
- Familiarity with Docker and containerisation.
- Experience using Git and collaborative development workflows.
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including SOLID principles and design patterns.
- Experience writing automated tests using Jest, Mocha, or similar frameworks.
