About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Developer (.NET) to join our dynamic team in Bridgend on a hybrid working basis. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and delivering a cutting-edge, enterprise-grade Azure-based integration platform. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced developer who is passionate about digital transformation and eager to lead innovative projects from inception to completion. As the first member of our new in-house development team, you will have the chance to shape the technical direction of our digital services, mentor junior developers, and establish best practices across the development lifecycle.
Your primary responsibility will be to build a scalable, event-driven API/microservices platform that integrates seamlessly with third-party systems while maintaining high standards of security and reliability. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, to ensure smooth deployment and operational excellence. This role offers a unique blend of technical leadership, hands-on development, and strategic contribution, making it ideal for a proactive professional looking to make a significant impact.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in delivering enterprise solutions on Microsoft Azure, with advanced proficiency in .NET and C#. Relevant certifications in Microsoft Azure are highly desirable. You should have extensive experience with event-driven architecture and technologies such as Azure Service Bus, Event Hubs, and Event Grid. Demonstrable expertise in building APIs and microservices using Azure tools like Functions, API Management, and Web Apps is essential. Additionally, familiarity with Azure data services such as SQL, Storage, Data Lake, and Cosmos DB will be advantageous.
Leadership experience is crucial, including a proven track record of mentoring development teams and leading technical projects. Excellent communication skills are required to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively. Experience working within agile teams and a comprehensive understanding of the full software development lifecycle are also important. Candidates should demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop an event-driven API/microservices platform on Azure that meets enterprise standards for scalability, security, and performance.
- Integrate multiple third-party systems securely and reliably, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability.
- Collaborate closely with DevOps teams to facilitate continuous integration, deployment, and operational monitoring.
- Establish and promote coding standards, best practices, and quality assurance processes across the development team.
- Present proofs of concept and provide technical guidance to stakeholders and project teams.
- Recruit, mentor, and lead a team of developers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the wider digital and technology strategy, aligning development efforts with organizational goals and objectives.
