Software Engineer / Software Developer - AgriTech SaaS

PHP | Laravel | PostgreSQL | React | APIs | Ubuntu | IoT

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Software Engineer / Software Developer to join an established early-stage technology company developing an innovative AgriTech farm management SaaS platform.

Backed by Innovate UK grant funding, the company is entering an important phase of product development and is looking for a capable and enthusiastic developer who wants to make a genuine impact. This is an opportunity to join at an early stage, help shape the technology and product, and become an integral member of the business as it grows.

The Role

You will work across the development and evolution of a farm management software platform designed to support customers within the agricultural sector.

This is much more than simply maintaining an existing application. You will be involved in core product development, while also adapting and tailoring implementations to meet individual customer requirements.

The technology encompasses a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform, mobile application, middleware and integrations with dedicated IoT devices, providing plenty of technical variety.

Responsibilities

  • Developing new functionality for the core SaaS product
  • Enhancing and maintaining the existing application
  • Tailoring implementations and scripts for individual customer requirements
  • Developing and working with web services and APIs
  • Supporting integrations between the platform, mobile application and IoT devices
  • Working with middleware and data integrations
  • Contributing ideas to the technical direction and future development of the product
  • Working closely with the wider business to turn customer and commercial requirements into effective technical solutions

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Technical Experience

We are looking for a strong software developer with experience across several of the following technologies:

Essential / core technologies:

  • PHP
  • Laravel, ideally recent/current versions
  • PostgreSQL / SQL
  • Ubuntu / Linux environments
  • Web services and API development
  • React

Experience of mobile applications, middleware or IoT integrations would also be valuable.

Previous experience within AgriTech, agricultural software, farm management systems or related technology would be highly desirable, although it is not essential.

About You

Technical ability is important, but so is attitude.

You will be someone who is competent, enthusiastic and comfortable taking ownership. You should relish the challenge of working within a growing technology company where you can influence decisions rather than simply being handed a narrow development specification.

This opportunity would particularly suit someone who enjoys solving problems, developing products and seeing the direct impact of their work on customers.

Why Join?

This is an opportunity to get involved at the ground floor of an ambitious, funded technology business and make your mark on a significant software product serving the AgriTech sector.

Rather than becoming one developer among many, you will have the opportunity to become a fundamental part of the company's technical capability, contributing to both the product and the future direction of the business.

As the company grows, there may also be the potential for share options/equity participation, alongside the satisfaction of helping build both the technology and the business from an early stage.

Location & Working Pattern

The company is looking for someone who is happy to work predominantly on-site, ideally five days per week, particularly given the collaborative and hands-on nature of this stage of the company's development.

However, there is flexibility for hybrid working for the right person.

If you're an experienced PHP/Laravel developer who wants greater ownership, technical variety and the opportunity to play a significant role in building an innovative AgriTech product, we'd be very interested in hearing from you.
