Introduction to the Team

Expedia Technology teams partner with our Product teams to create innovative products, services, and tools to deliver high-quality experiences for travelers, partners, and our employees. A singular technology platform powered by data and machine learning provides secure, differentiated, and personalized experiences that drive loyalty and traveler satisfaction.

The Search Results and Recs experience team owns the UI layer for Expedia Group brands and B2B experiences across web, iOS, and Android. As a Software Development Engineer II, Full-Stack, you will build React-based user interfaces, backend capabilities, APIs, and reusable platform components. You will contribute to configurable experiences that help brands make changes using no-code or low-code tools updates for every layout or content adjustment.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop React-based user interfaces and backend capabilities.
  • Build, integrate, and contribute to API design decisions.
  • Own features from understanding requirements through delivery, with support from teammates and product management.
  • Collaborate with product management, backend and domain service teams, platform teams, and brand teams.
  • Create reusable and configurable components and platform capabilities.
  • Contribute to improvements across Expedia Group web, iOS, Android, and B2B experiences.
  • Improve clickstream data collection and content management for banners and product cards.
  • Contribute to the Vrbo product-card redesign and BEX redesign.
  • Support the rollout of server-driven UI, enabling card layouts to be updated through configuration.
  • Migrate traffic from legacy systems to the new platform.
  • Apply API design considerations, including additional calls, traffic management, and error handling.
  • Deliver reliable software with a rigorous development approach and a high quality bar.

Experience and Qualifications

Required

  • Approximately 2–3 years of software development experience.
  • Experience with full-stack development across frontend and backend systems.
  • Experience developing with React.
  • Experience with Kotlin backend development; strong Java and/or Scala experience may be considered as an alternative.
  • Experience developing and integrating APIs.
  • Understanding of API design considerations, including the impact of additional calls, traffic management, and error handling.
  • Experience using existing component libraries.
  • Proven ability to deliver software and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work across frontend, backend, APIs, and platform capabilities.

  • Experience with Next.js or a similar server-rendered React framework.
  • Exposure to design-system concepts.
  • Experience developing consumer-facing applications.
  • Experience using AI agents in software development.
