Software Development Manager Manchester (Hybrid)

Are you an experienced Software Development Manager with a strong software engineering background? Do you enjoy developing high-performing teams while staying close to the technical detail? We're partnering with a fast-growing SaaS technology business looking for a Software Development Manager to lead a team of talented engineers building modern, customer-facing products. This is an exciting opportunity to join during a period of growth, helping shape engineering standards, improve team performance, and build scalable software using modern development practices.

About the Role

As a Software Development Manager, you'll lead a team of approximately seven software engineers, supporting their technical development, performance, and career progression while ensuring the delivery of high-quality, maintainable software. Although this isn't a hands-on coding role, you'll remain technically involved by reviewing code, coaching engineers, driving best practices, and helping solve complex technical challenges. You'll play a key role in creating a high-performing engineering culture, improving delivery efficiency, supporting recruitment, and promoting continuous improvement across the engineering function.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
