Role Description

The Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain software solutions that support client projects and internal initiatives. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, contribute to system architecture, and ensure high performance, reliability, and security of applications. The Software Engineer will also help improve development practices, document technical designs, and stay current with modern technologies relevant to Aventa’s services.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Halifax.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Computer Science and Software Development, with the ability to design, build, and maintain robust applications.
  • Proficiency in Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), including experience with at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, C#, Python, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience in Back-End Web Development, including APIs, databases, and server-side frameworks.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
  • Understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices for scalable and secure systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, communicate clearly, and adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP), CI/CD pipelines, or containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is an asset.
