Senior Software Engineer – Java, Cloud & AI
📍 Location: London, UK
💼 Contract: 6 Months
🏢 Working Model: 5 Days Onsite per Week
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer – Java, Cloud & AI to join an enterprise engineering team in London. The role involves designing, developing and supporting secure, scalable and highly resilient platform services, integrations and data-enabled solutions.
The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, platform, data and operations teams to deliver production-grade applications, curated datasets and AI/ML-enabled solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test and troubleshoot enterprise-scale applications using Java, Spring and Spring Boot.
- Build and maintain microservices and REST APIs, including synchronous and asynchronous processing.
- Develop secure, scalable and highly resilient production-grade applications.
- Produce technical design and architecture artifacts covering service boundaries, data flows, interface contracts and resiliency patterns.
- Analyse application data, logs and performance metrics to identify issues and improve system reliability.
- Contribute to engineering standards, technical forums and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work with CI/CD, automation, testing and SDLC tools to improve engineering efficiency.
- Use enterprise-approved AI-assisted development tools for coding, refactoring, testing, troubleshooting and documentation.
- Validate AI-generated outputs for correctness, security, performance and maintainability.
- Collaborate with engineering and platform teams to deliver reliable cloud and data solutions.

Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring and Spring Boot.
- Strong experience developing microservices and REST APIs.
- Solid understanding of system design, application development, testing and production support.
- Experience working with enterprise-scale applications in large corporate environments.
- Strong experience with SQL and databases such as MS SQL Server or Oracle.
- Good understanding of SDLC, Agile, CI/CD, application resiliency and security fundamentals.
- Experience deploying and operating applications in Cloud or Hybrid Cloud environments.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted software development tools such as enterprise-approved coding assistants.
- Ability to critically evaluate and validate AI-generated code, tests and documentation.
- Understanding of responsible AI usage, data sensitivity and secure handling of AI inputs/outputs.

Preferred Skills
- Databricks, Lakehouse architecture and Delta Lake.
- Medallion Architecture and data product development.
- Enterprise data platforms and Data Mesh principles.
- Data quality, observability, metadata management and data lineage.
- Experience supporting Analytics, Reporting and AI/ML workloads.
- Experience with regulatory controls, auditability and traceability.
- Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
- AWS SQS, SNS and EventBridge.
- Event-driven architecture and asynchronous processing.
- Strong understanding of resiliency and scalable cloud architectures.
