About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our dynamic team in Derby, with hybrid working arrangements. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development of high-quality software components, contributing to critical projects that support our aerospace and engineering initiatives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate system requirements into reliable software solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as DO178. Your expertise will help deliver innovative, efficient, and robust software products that meet the demanding needs of our clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess practical experience in software design and development, with a strong background in embedded software, system architecture, or hardware integration. Proficiency in C programming and model-based design is highly desirable, along with familiarity with engineering lifecycle processes and constraints. Candidates should have a solid understanding of testing methodologies, verification, and validation procedures. Relevant skills include experience with simulation, modelling tools, and analysis software. A degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred, alongside a proactive attitude towards continuous learning and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain software components throughout their lifecycle, from high-level requirements to detailed verification, ensuring compliance with DO178 objectives for model-based or manually coded solutions.
  • Evaluate verification and test results, providing technical insights, and supporting defect investigation and resolution processes.
  • Adhere to configuration management and change control practices within a DevOps environment to ensure version integrity and traceability.
  • Collaborate within Agile teams to understand system requirements, facilitate effective component integration, and contribute to iterative development cycles.
  • Create comprehensive technical documentation, including design decisions, verification reports, and development activities, to support project transparency and knowledge sharing.
  • Contribute to departmental growth by participating in process improvements, developing tools, sharing knowledge, and supporting training initiatives.
  • Engage with cross-disciplinary teams to interpret technical data, assess test outcomes, and identify potential risks or issues related to software performance.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively, manage risks, and deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain high standards of analytical thinking and problem-solving, ensuring attention to detail and accuracy in all deliverables.
