We are looking for a Senior C++ Developer to join a systematic macro trading pod focused on fast, mid-frequency strategies across FX and Futures.

About the Role

This is a highly embedded role working directly with the Portfolio Manager, owning the technology across the trading fast path. You will have exposure to the alpha and become a key technical partner to the investment team, designing and developing the infrastructure required to take strategies from market data through to execution.

Responsibilities

  • Own and develop the pod’s tick-to-trade architecture, from receiving tick-by-tick market data through signal interaction, order management and execution.
  • Design and build low-latency C++ trading engines and execution infrastructure.
  • Develop the technology around trading algorithms, including market data handling, algo wrappers, order generation and OMS functionality.
  • Work directly with the PM on the implementation and evolution of systematic trading strategies, with exposure to the underlying alpha.
  • Take ownership of the pod's execution technology rather than relying on centralised execution infrastructure.
  • Optimise trading systems for performance, reliability and efficient interaction with electronic markets.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Strong backgrounds could include low-latency trading, electronic execution, algo development, tick-by-tick market data or order management systems.
  • Experience with FX and/or Futures would be particularly valuable.
  • You should have experience building performance-sensitive trading technology and understand how market data, trading algorithms, order management and execution fit together within a live trading environment.

This isn’t purely about chasing the lowest possible latency. The key is having the breadth to own the fast path end-to-end and operate as a technical partner to a fast systematic macro PM.
