About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer with expertise in Node.js and TypeScript to join a dynamic fintech organization on a 12-month contract basis. This fully remote position offers an exciting opportunity to work on mission-critical financial systems that require high scalability, resilience, and security. As a senior member of the engineering team, you will have ownership of key components within the platform, guiding technical decisions and contributing to the development of innovative financial products. Your role will involve designing and building reliable backend services, working closely with cross-functional teams, and ensuring seamless integration within a regulated environment. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background, a proactive mindset, and a passion for building scalable, resilient systems that meet the demands of the financial industry.

Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Backend Engineer, with strong expertise in Node.js and TypeScript.
- Solid understanding of system design, architecture, and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, especially serverless technologies such as Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, and API Gateway.
- Familiarity with document databases, particularly MongoDB.
- Experience in building resilient APIs and scalable backend services.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, observability, incident management, and production support processes.
- Experience working within regulated financial environments, ideally FinTech or financial services.
- Ability to take ownership of services, from development through to deployment and operational support.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor junior engineers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain reliable and scalable backend services to support financial applications.
- Take ownership of specific platform areas, including making architectural and technical decisions to ensure robustness and efficiency.
- Build and optimize APIs and distributed systems within a regulated financial environment, ensuring compliance and security standards are met.
- Leverage AWS serverless technologies such as Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, and API Gateway to create scalable solutions.
- Work with document databases like MongoDB to manage data effectively and efficiently.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, enhancing automation, deployment processes, and system observability.
- Participate in incident management, troubleshooting, and providing ongoing production support to ensure high system availability.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers, promote best practices, and contribute to engineering standards within the team.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously improve platform capabilities.
