Software Engineering Role at TIDE

Salary and Employment

Circa £50k, salary dependant on skills and experience
Permanent
37 hours a week, Monday to Friday, Hybrid working

About the Role

Help shape the next stage of software engineering at TIDE, part of the Anglian Water Group. We’re looking for a C# /.NET engineer to join our team as we develop our Azure services and modernise existing applications. You’ll design, develop and maintain C#/.NET applications and APIs, taking features from requirements through implementation, testing, deployment and support.

Our work combines new development with practical modernisation. We’re developing our Azure platform around Container Apps and Service Bus, improving delivery through Azure DevOps YAML pipelines and Bicep, and progressively replacing existing MVC and Angular interfaces with React.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve C# /.NET applications and APIs, applying Clean Architecture principles to deliver maintainable, testable and well-structured code.
  • Work with application data using Entity Framework Core and Azure SQL, and contribute to decisions about where services such as Cosmos DB are appropriate.
  • Build and support asynchronous workflows using Azure Service Bus and MassTransit.
  • Contribute to Azure DevOps pipelines and Bicep infrastructure, helping the team release changes consistently across environments.
  • Investigate application problems using logs, diagnostics and other evidence, then address their underlying causes.
  • Contribute to the gradual replacement of existing MVC and Angular interfaces with React.
  • Review code, discuss implementation choices and improve engineering practices with the team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Requirements

  • Experience developing and maintaining applications using C# and modern .NET.
  • An understanding of API development, asynchronous programming and writing code that other engineers can understand and maintain.
  • Experience working with relational databases, SQL and data-access tools such as Entity Framework Core.
  • Experience writing automated tests and using them to verify changes.
  • Experience deploying or supporting applications in Azure, including working with application configuration across environments.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Git, and an ability to contribute through code reviews and technical discussion.
  • A practical approach to troubleshooting: gathering evidence, explaining your reasoning and working towards a proportionate solution.

Experience That Would Help You Get Started

Our technology direction includes Azure Container Apps, Service Bus, MassTransit, Azure DevOps YAML pipelines, Bicep, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, React and TypeScript. Experience with some of these would be useful. We don’t expect you to have worked with every technology in our stack. Strong C# and software engineering fundamentals, relevant production experience and the ability to learn unfamiliar tools matter more than matching every product name.

What You Can Contribute

You’ll have opportunities to influence how features are implemented, bring improvements into code reviews and help the team make considered decisions about its applications. We value engineers who explain their thinking, respond constructively to feedback and share what they learn. You should be comfortable taking responsibility for your work, asking for support when needed and balancing delivery with reliability and maintainability.
