JD.com is seeking an experienced software engineer to join our technology team in Europe and focus on developing our software services for our retail business, JoyBuy, and its extended services for operations in European countries such as the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands, France and more. You will have the opportunity to work with teams across multiple domains including product management, platform, retail applications, business. We operate in Europe and China in a dynamic international environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and extend JD retail services and platform, ensuring high performance, availability, concurrency, security, and scalability.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout project implementation, developing and executing effective control strategies that cover monitorability, maintainability, and grey release or rollback capabilities.
- Extend JD technical capabilities to enhance operational excellence for business partners.
- Innovate, research, adopt, and promote new technologies and methodologies to enhance experience, improve efficiency and optimizing operational cost.
- Identify integration opportunities between emerging technologies and global system architectures to drive the team’s technical growth and strengthen architectural foresight.
- Strengthen software development principles, processes, and planning across multiple teams and with our business partners.
- Work closely with key stakeholders to design and define service development plan.
- Effectively communicate technical vision and strategy, software design logic, technical decisions with colleagues across multiple domains.
- Support and mentor junior members technical skill development and progression.

This position is based in London, UK; Berlin, Germany; or Dusseldorf, Germany.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience full stack software development
- Passionate about technology and continuous improvement, demonstrating exceptional coding proficiency, a commitment to clean and elegant code, and a keen interest in exploring open-source projects.
- Proactive, fast learner, and highly collaborative, with strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, capable of independently identifying and resolving complex technical challenges.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Work experience in large-scale e-commerce companies.
- Experience in supplier and merchant tools.
- Experience in UK and European business.
- Fluent in English is essential. Having communication skills in Chinese is a plus.
