About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our dynamic team at Travelers. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating risk, determining policy terms and pricing, and ensuring that the company's underwriting guidelines are consistently applied. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of insurance principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with agents and clients. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications such as CPCU, ARM, or CPCU are a plus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in insurance underwriting, preferably within property and casualty insurance.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex risks and determine appropriate coverage and pricing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with agents, brokers, and internal teams.
- Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate insurance applications and assess risk factors to determine coverage options and pricing.
- Analyze financial data, claim history, and other relevant information to make informed underwriting decisions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with agents, brokers, and clients to facilitate smooth underwriting processes.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and underwriting guidelines.
- Collaborate with claims and actuarial teams to assess risk trends and improve underwriting strategies.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all underwriting decisions and activities.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes.
- Assist in the development of new insurance products and pricing strategies to meet market demands.
