Software Engineer - Glasgow

We're looking for a full-stack developer to join Phlo as a Software Engineer. You'll work across our products and platforms as part of a close-knit team of developers, designers, testers and product owners, with the autonomy and influence to help shape the future of Phlo.

The Job

On a day-to-day basis, you'll be involved in:

  • Working collaboratively with other engineers, designers, product owners and the wider business to deliver our vision of the pharmacy of the future.
  • Working in small, collaborative teams where AI-assisted development is part of our day-to-day approach.
  • Using AI tools thoughtfully to spend less time on routine work and more time solving the problems that matter, while maintaining strong engineering judgement.
  • Building our products. You'll own and deliver substantial product changes alongside your team, working confidently across multiple areas of the codebase and improving the code as you go.
  • Breaking work down and taking it through to delivery. You'll turn complex tasks into clear objectives, work through them methodically and raise pull requests early and often.
  • Taking the lead on smaller projects, with the support of your team and manager and growing into larger ones.
  • Designing the technical approach for new features, making sure the solution is maintainable and fit for purpose.
  • Reviewing and testing the work of other engineers, thoroughly testing changes and guiding authors towards better solutions.
  • Researching technologies and approaches for upcoming work, then documenting your findings and recommendations clearly for the team.
  • Supporting our production systems, working issues through to resolution and documenting what you learn to help others resolve similar issues more efficiently.
  • Helping the team improve. You'll advocate for better ways of working and take the initiative on the improvements you spot, proactively driving them forward.
  • Contributing to engineering initiatives that improve how we build software across the team.
  • Sharing what you know by acting as a buddy to new joiners and helping others build their knowledge and confidence.

Working with technologies including TypeScript, React, Koa, Next.js, Vite, Playwright, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, GCP and Azure DevOps.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
