Software Engineer
Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum
Location: Swindon / London (Hybrid)
About The Role
Join Edenred Paytech as a Software Engineer and help deliver high-quality software into production. You’ll follow best practices and published standards, proactively improve the platform’s quality, stability, and performance. You will take ownership of issue resolution and contribute to the technical evolution of our products.
What You Will Be Doing
- Develop features and platform enhancements in adherence to Paytech development standards and best practices.
- Contribute across the full development lifecycle - from requirements through delivery - including appropriate testing and documentation.
- Actively participate in story creation and refinement while adhering to agile principles.
- Take responsibility for effective triage and resolution of issues as they arise.
- Proactively seek opportunities to improve platform quality, stability, and performance.

What You Will Bring
Essential Criteria
- Solid commercial experience with Java.
- Relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle).
- Spring Boot and Hibernate.
- Microservices and RESTful API development.
- Testing: JUnit, Cucumber, Wiremock, Mockito; TDD and BDD.
- OO analysis and design; clean coding and SOLID principles.
- Agile frameworks and DevOps culture/practices.
- XML/JSON and Java serialization.
Desirable Criteria
- Layered/clean architecture and design patterns.
- AWS services e.g ECS, RDS, SQS, ECR etc.
- Containerisation (e.g., Docker).
- Unix and shell scripting.
- Experience working with large databases.
- Tools: Git, Maven, Apache Tomcat, Jenkins, Jira.
- Knowledge of security best practices (e.g., OWASP) and performance optimization.
- OAuth 2 and public key encryption.
- Experience with Payment Processing Systems

- Collaborate with all departments and directly with clients.
- Reports to the Software Development Team Lead.
