SOFTWARE ENGINEER

An opportunity has arisen for a Software Engineer to join our Data Solutions Programming team.

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and adaptable Software Engineer with strong full-stack development skills. The successful candidate will be proficient in front-end development using Angular and back-end development using.NET C#, with SQL database management experience being highly desirable.

You will join a small, experienced programming team within Data Solutions, working closely with business analysts, data scientists and domain specialists. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of features, influence technical approaches and see your work used directly by customers. Hybrid working, with regular attendance at our Stonehouse office expected, particularly for team collaboration, project kick-offs and customer-facing work.

You will work directly with customers, clients and internal stakeholders to understand requirements, clarify user needs, and translate them into practical, user-focused software solutions. The role would suit someone who is comfortable exploring novel technical approaches, turning ideas into working solutions quickly, and using AI-assisted development tools responsibly to support high-quality delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing and maintaining secure web-based software solutions
  • Translating user and customer requirements into practical software features
  • Delivering front-end functionality using Angular or similar modern frameworks
  • Working with C#, ASP.NET and SQL Server-based applications
  • Using AI-assisted development tools securely and responsibly to support prototyping, delivery and problem-solving
  • Collaborating with developers, business analysts, data scientists and domain specialists

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years' commercial software development experience
  • Strong C# / ASP.NET experience
  • Experience with SQL Server or similar relational databases
  • Experience building web applications using Angular, React, Blazor or similar
  • Understanding of OWASP security best practices and secure by design principles
  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to estimate, prioritise and deliver work in a small collaborative team

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with DevExtreme and DevExpress component libraries
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot for Visual Studio, or similar.
  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL databases
  • Experience with Microsoft DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
  • Understanding of Windows Services and SSIS packages
  • Knowledge of EDMX and MS Entity Framework
  • Experience with Blazor
  • Relevant Microsoft, cloud, security or software development certifications, or a willingness to work towards them.
