Full Stack Engineer (React / TypeScript / Python) - AI Native Team

KEY POINTS

  • Fully remote within the UK
  • Up to £500 per day, outside IR35
  • Six month initial contract with the intention of going permanent
  • Early Series A startup, five people, you would be the second engineer
  • Building an agentic AI platform, and building it with agentic AI
  • Claude Code or Copilot at a proper agentic level is a genuine requirement
  • React and TypeScript front end, TypeScript or Python back end
  • Start needed ASAP

ABOUT THE ROLE AND WHO YOU WOULD WORK FOR

An early Series A startup building a production intelligence platform for video content. Not another content generation tool. Content creation is a solved problem, and what they are building sits around it, taking a production from the initial brief all the way through to the finished deliverable. Advertising is the starting market, with the same model applying to production more widely after that.

The platform is agentic at its core, and so is the way the team works. The founding engineer builds this way himself, day to day, and the person joining needs to work the same way. This is not a company where AI tooling is something people are being encouraged to try. It is already how the software gets written.

The team is five people day to day, fully remote, headquartered in the South West. There is one engineer in the business at the moment and you would be the second.

THE ROLE

This is a genuine full stack role with a front end lean. Not a front end specialist role, and equally not an AI research or ML engineering role. The platform is still evolving and the person who joins needs to own features end to end rather than waiting on someone else for the other half.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You would be working directly with the founding engineer, contributing to architecture rather than picking up tickets, and shaping how the platform is built while it is still being figured out.

THE AI SIDE, AND WHY IT MATTERS HERE

You do not need to have built agentic workflows from scratch, although it is a strong plus if you have. What you do need is to have genuinely worked in an agentic way yourself.

That means using something like Claude Code, Cursor or Copilot properly. Handing it a plan, letting it implement, running the loop, reviewing the output. Not autocomplete. And on something real that you owned and maintained over weeks or months, not a weekend project you abandoned.

The reason this matters is that understanding how an agent behaves, where it succeeds and where it falls over, is the same understanding the product itself is built on. If you already think in those terms, the product will make immediate sense to you. If you do not, it will be a hard place to start.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and own features end to end across front end and back end
  • Design the middleware that handles large volumes of information and user interaction
  • Work with agentic tooling as a core part of how you deliver, not an add on
  • Contribute to architecture and technical direction from day one
  • Keep the codebase clean and maintainable while the product moves quickly

ESSETIAL EXPERIENCE

  • Strong commercial full stack experience
  • React, JavaScript and TypeScript on the front end
  • TypeScript or Python on the back end
  • Hands on experience delivering real software using agentic AI tooling such as Claude Code, Cursor or Copilot, on a codebase you maintained over time
  • Sound architecture and engineering fundamentals, you care how things are built
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and running semi independently
  • Available to start within four weeks

DESIRABLE, NOT ESSENTIAL

  • Experience building agentic workflows or working with agent frameworks such as Bedrock, AgentCore, Strands, LangChain or LangGraph
  • Working across different levels of abstraction in AI tooling
  • AWS and Terraform, or infrastructure as code generally
  • Previous startup or zero to one experience
  • Any background in VFX, advertising, games or content production

WHAT THEY OFFER

Fully remote with real autonomy, a small team where you will genuinely shape the product, and direct access to the founder and founding engineer. The contract route is deliberate. They want to bring people in quickly while the raise completes, then convert to permanent and build the core team around the people who fit.
