Software Engineer
Permanent | Hybrid
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Software Engineer to join a highly technical engineering team developing sophisticated software for complex, real-world systems.
You’ll work across a variety of projects involving software development, data processing, sensor integration and machine vision, ranging from rapid proof-of-concept work through to robust software components used within long-lived engineering products.
This would suit an engineer with a strong STEM background, excellent problem-solving skills and solid software engineering fundamentals. Specialist domain knowledge isn’t essential and can be developed within the role.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Developing and maintaining high-quality, reusable software components.
- Working across projects using Python, C#, C++, TypeScript and modern web technologies.
- Contributing to system design, technical decisions and code reviews.
- Debugging, profiling and optimising complex or performance-sensitive software.
- Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Supporting both rapid development projects and longer-term product development.

What We’re Looking For
- Strong programming ability in one or more languages such as Python, C#, C++, TypeScript or similar.
- Good understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP).
- Strong software engineering fundamentals including modular design, separation of concerns, version control, testing and debugging.
- Experience developing well-structured software for complex systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A STEM background such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent practical experience.

Desirable
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Machine vision or image/data processing.
- Sensor or hardware integration.
- Multi-threaded, real-time or performance-sensitive software.
- Windows or Linux desktop application development.
- Working across the full software stack.
- Contributing to established, shared codebases.
