About Budibase

Budibase is an open-source platform for building apps, automations, and AI agents. Teams use Budibase to connect to their data, build internal tools, automate workflows, integrate their existing systems, and create AI-powered processes.

We started as a low-code platform for internal tools. Today, we’re building a broader platform for operational work — combining apps for people, automations for repeatable processes, and AI agents for more dynamic work.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Our goal is simple: make the workplace faster.

What you’ll work on

You’ll join one of our product engineering teams and start contributing to meaningful parts of Budibase.

That could include:

  • Building and improving our app-building experience
  • Developing our workflow and automation capabilities
  • Building AI agents that can use tools, data, and automations
  • Creating integrations with external systems and APIs
  • Improving performance, reliability, security, and permissions
  • Building product experiences that make complex capabilities easy to use

We’re a small engineering team, so there are plenty of opportunities to work across different parts of the product.

The kind of person we’re looking for

We’re looking for a mid-level Software Engineer with strong engineering fundamentals and good product instincts.

You might be a good fit if you:

  • Have professional software engineering experience
  • Have strong JavaScript or TypeScript fundamentals
  • Are comfortable working across frontend and backend
  • Have shipped real product features to users
  • Care about usability and product quality
  • Can take a problem and work through it to production
  • Use AI coding tools and are curious about how AI is changing software development
  • Enjoy learning and working across different parts of a codebase
  • Communicate clearly and work well with others

You don’t need previous AI experience. Strong engineering fundamentals, curiosity, and the ability to learn and ship matter more.

Useful experience

Experience with any of the following is useful, but not required:

  • TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, React, Svelte, or similar
  • Full-stack SaaS products
  • Databases, APIs, and third-party integrations
  • Workflow or automation products
  • Internal tools, low-code, or developer tools
  • LLMs, agents, tool calling, or other AI capabilities
  • Open-source or self-hosted software

What success looks like

You’ll start contributing quickly, working alongside experienced engineers to ship improvements to Budibase.

As you get familiar with the product and codebase, you’ll take ownership of increasingly substantial pieces of work — understanding the problem, helping shape the solution, building it, and getting it into users’ hands.

We’re particularly interested in engineers in Belfast and across Northern Ireland. Budibase is fully remote, but we’d like to build a stronger local engineering presence and are happy to meet candidates for coffee in and around Belfast.
