Software Engineer | DevEx/Developer Experience | Hybrid in London | Tier 1 Trading Firm | Highly competitive compensation
We're partnering with one of the world's most sophisticated technology-driven trading firms to hire a Software Engineer into a high-impact Developer Experience team that has doubled in size YoY and has no signs of slowing down.

You'll join a business where engineering excellence sits at the core of everything they do. From build systems and CI/CD platforms to AI-assisted development tooling, you'll help shape the future of how software is built, tested and deployed across a globally distributed engineering organisation.
The Opportunity
As a senior member of the Developer Experience function, you'll focus on removing friction from the development process and enabling engineering teams to move faster with greater confidence.
You'll be responsible for:
- Designing and building the tooling, infrastructure and workflows that support developers from local development environments through to production deployment.
- Partnering closely with software engineering teams to identify bottlenecks and streamline developer workflows.
- Driving improvements to build performance, test reliability and deployment speed.
- Defining and implementing meaningful engineering productivity metrics.
- Exploring emerging AI-assisted development technologies and integrating them into daily engineering practices where appropriate.
- Influencing engineering standards, tooling strategy and developer productivity initiatives across the wider business.

What You'll Be Doing
- Designing and maintaining scalable build platforms and shared engineering tooling used across the organisation.
- Building and improving CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows and release automation.
- Creating developer tooling including CLI applications, IDE integrations and containerised development environments.
- Partnering closely with software engineering teams to identify bottlenecks and streamline developer workflows.
- Driving improvements to build performance, test reliability and deployment speed.
- Defining and implementing meaningful engineering productivity metrics.
- Exploring emerging AI-assisted development technologies and integrating them into daily engineering practices where appropriate.
- Influencing engineering standards, tooling strategy and developer productivity initiatives across the wider business.
What We're Looking For
The develop team are keen to speak with engineers who have a genuine passion for Developer Experience, Platform Engineering or Internal Developer Platforms.
You'll likely bring:
- Strong software engineering fundamentals with experience building production-grade systems.
- Experience designing and scaling developer tooling, build systems or engineering platforms.
- Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle from development through to deployment and operations.
- Expertise with CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins or similar platforms.
- Experience working with containerised development environments using technologies such as Docker.
- Exposure to modern build systems and tooling including Bazel, CMake, Ninja, Poetry or comparable technologies.
- Strong programming ability across both scripting and compiled languages.
- A track record of delivering measurable productivity improvements through tooling, automation and platform enhancements.
- The ability to influence stakeholders and drive technical initiatives across multiple engineering teams.
