Technical Lead – Trading Systems

Locations: Singapore, London or New York

Overview

A leading quantitative trading firm (HFT) is seeking a hands-on Technical Lead to drive the development of mission-critical trading systems across its global trading platform. This is a player-coach role for an experienced engineer who enjoys remaining deeply involved in production development while leading and mentoring a small engineering team. Approximately 70% of the role will focus on hands-on engineering, with the remaining 30% covering technical leadership and people management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of high-performance, low-latency trading systems.
  • Write and maintain production-quality software across the trading platform.
  • Provide technical leadership to a team of software and quantitative developers.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support their technical development.
  • Establish engineering standards, development practices and architectural principles.
  • Partner closely with traders, quantitative researchers and senior stakeholders.
  • Drive system architecture and the long-term evolution of the trading platform.
  • Participate in system design, code reviews, testing and production support.
  • Improve the reliability, scalability and performance of core trading infrastructure.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
