Software Engineer
Location: Bristol or Edinburgh
Overview
Our client is an established UK mobility services organisation seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join an agile product team delivering and maintaining software for internal and external customers.
The role will work closely with business stakeholders to develop reliable, user-focused software and contribute to an established product roadmap. The successful candidate will help strengthen engineering practices, improve operational support, and build the organisation’s artificial intelligence capability.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software for internal and external customers.
- Deliver working software within an agile product environment.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and product colleagues to understand requirements and priorities.
- Use customer feedback and engineering best practice to improve products and services.
- Apply test-driven development, automation, and shift-left testing principles.
- Build software and systems that are reliable, maintainable, and easy to support.
- Contribute to the development and effective use of artificial intelligence capabilities.
- Continuously review and improve software delivery processes.
- Support the operation and ongoing maintenance of delivered systems.
- Improve tools, documentation, and engineering practices to make future development easier.
- Collaborate closely with other engineers and contribute to a supportive team culture.

Requirements
- Professional software engineering experience.
- Experience working within an agile product delivery environment.
- Experience developing and maintaining production software.
- Knowledge of test-driven development and automated testing practices.
- Understanding of shift-left quality assurance principles.
- A strong focus on software reliability, maintainability, and operational support.
- Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- An interest in developing and applying artificial intelligence capabilities.
