Software Engineer – Java, Spring Boot & AWS
Contract: 6-month contract
Hourly Rate: £75p/h (Inside of IR35)
Location: Manchester (1/2 days per week onsite)
A leading global technology organisation is looking for a hands-on Software Engineer to join a team responsible for migrating services from a single AWS account to a multi-account environment.
The new structure will operate similarly to a cell-based architecture, with individual AWS accounts representing separate business domains. You will primarily focus on developing, testing and supporting Java-based services while contributing to the technical design of the new environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys building reliable production services and solving technical problems directly.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot
- Support the migration of services into a multi-account AWS architecture
- Write clean, reusable and well-tested production code
- Create and maintain unit tests
- Monitor service health through dashboards and application logs
- Investigate production issues and implement long-term solutions
- Contribute to technical design decisions and architectural improvements
- Work collaboratively with engineers and other technical stakeholders
- Support services throughout development, deployment and production

Required Experience:
- At least three years’ commercial software engineering experience
- Strong hands-on Java development experience
- Strong Spring Boot experience
- Commercial experience working with AWS
- Good knowledge of unit testing and software-development best practices
- Experience monitoring dashboards and investigating application logs
- Confidence completing a live coding exercise
- Experience building and supporting production applications or services
Advantageous but not essential:
- Experience with AWS multi-account environments, cloud migrations or cell-based architecture
